Once you’ve submitted your application for Social Security Disability benefits, the waiting period can feel long and uncertain. Naturally, one of the most common questions applicants ask is:
“How do I track my disability application?”

The good news is that the Social Security Administration (SSA) provides several convenient ways for you to monitor the progress of your claim.

Find out if you qualify for SSDI benefits. Pre-qualify in 60 seconds for up to $4,018 per month and 12 months back pay.

Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.

Ways to Track Your Disability Application

Create a my Social Security Account

The most efficient way to track your application is online via your my Social Security account.

  • Visit ssa.gov/myaccount
  • Create or log into your account
  • Once logged in, you can view:
  • The current status of your application
  • Any requests for additional documentation
  • Estimated decision timelines
  • Notices or decisions from the SSA

Call the SSA Directly

If you prefer to speak with someone, call the SSA’s toll-free number:

  • 1-800-772-1213
  • Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Be prepared with your Social Security Number and application confirmation number

Visit a Local SSA Office

You can also visit your nearest SSA office to get a status update. Make sure to bring:

  • A valid ID
  • Your application information
  • Any documents you may need to submit

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are typically accepted for basic inquiries.

What Information Will You See?

When tracking your application, you’ll see:

  • Received Date: When SSA got your application
  • Current Status: Whether it’s under review, pending medical review, or awaiting a decision
  • Next Steps: Whether the SSA needs more info, or if a consultative exam is scheduled
  • Final Decision: Approval or denial, with explanation

Checking your application regularly ensures you don’t miss any critical updates or deadlines.
